CELCOR, through its Community Legal Education and Awareness Raising Officer, Ms. Rebecca Melepia, participated in Friends of the Earth (FOE) Agro-commodities meeting in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 5th to 8th June.
This meeting saw staff from FOE International Secretariat and FOE member groups from Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific, exchange learning and strategies on regional and national work on agro-commodities, build a common understanding of the work and views on agro-commodities and formulate goals and objectives for Friends of the Earth International Food Sovereignty Program.
This was also a time for participants to reflect on their work on agro-commodities and sustainable forest management, share ideas with other FOE members, highlight issues that needed to be addressed and pathways to be taken for the food sovereignty program to achieve its goals and objectives.
By the end of the program, a Strategic Plan for FOE’s Food Sovereignty Program for 2020 to 2025, was put together. Three focus areas of Collective Rights, Corporate Power (dismantling) and Discredit False Solutions were all captured in this new plan which the working group ensues will elevate movement building, empower communities and promote food sovereignty globally.
